I have eight years' experience in academia, and of those eight years, I spent six working as an English teacher. I love being able to work around children, especially when I get the opportunity to help them develop reading skills. I firmly believe that all students enjoy reading, but it is the teacher's responsibility to find them a book that they are interested in. As a teacher, it is my primary goal to help students discover why reading is important, and show them how to have fun in the process.I enjoy working privately, in one-on-one settings, because it allows for me to fully understand my student's goals and needs. In private lessons, the teacher is able to devote all of his or her time to the student, which is important for building the student's confidence levels.Along with reading and writing, I tutor phonics, literature, and grammar. I also am able to prepare students for the SAT. My hobbies include hiking, watching movies, and writing.
