Experience
I received my BS in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a minor in Chemistry from Adams State University. I began tutoring students in science when I was a sophomore in college and continued tutoring even after graduation. I am passionate about the sciences and specifically about biological sciences. While I tutor most in biology and chemistry I have also had success in helping students who are struggling with other math and science classes such as elementary math, algebra 1 & 2, statistics, anatomy, microbiology, physiology, psychology, competition math, earth sciences, environmental science, genetics, geology, IB math and science courses, nutrition, AP math and science classes, and social science. My tutoring style is engaging and I focus on developing a student's critical thinking skills in an environment that is interactive and creatively stimulating. Once students begin using critical thinking skills in respect to biology I find it becomes less intimidating to them and they find greater academic success. It is my goal to help students fully understand the material we are reviewing and to give them a sense of confidence by practicing those skills while we are together. When I am not pursuing my own academic career or tutoring I enjoy Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, Muay Thai, mountain boarding, singing, reading, and playing video games.
