EducationWesleyan University - BA, Mathematics & Physics
ExperienceI am a graduate of Wesleyan University in Connecticut, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics and Mathematics. I have a long history of tutoring elementary, high school, and college aged students. My specialty is science and mathematics. I love teaching math because it gives me great joy to see students break through to the "Eureka" moment when they are working through hard concepts. I find that a hands-on approach to the material through real world examples is the most effective means of teaching, particularly with physics, and I employ that learning style in my own tutoring whenever possible. I like to create physics experiments for the kids to try in order to help them understand their problems. I try not to directly provide the answers to my students, but will often answer their questions with questions of my own to help them explore the subject and find the correct answers for themselves. I am qualified to tutor all levels of elementary and high school math, such as Arithmetic, Calculus, and Trigonometry. I am can also help students prepare for high school standardized tests such as the ACT and the SAT. I am a native of Madison, Wisconsin, and I am a big fan of Wisconsin sports. I also enjoy running and I am currently training for the Boston Marathon.
